VANCOUVER – Finance Minister Michael de Jong, QC, issued the following statement today expressing condolences on behalf of the B.C. government on the passing of community volunteer and philanthropist David Holmberg, Sr., who died January 23, 2017:
“Dave built a successful business from integrity, hard work and respect that led to long-standing relationships. The values that helped build his family business, he also employed to build his community. Dave was a driving force behind the establishment of Abbotsford Hospice Society’s Holmberg House and Abbotsford’s famous discovery trail. These represent lasting gifts to the community, and he leaves a legacy of countless contributions to the youth, services and economic development of Abbotsford.
It was a privilege to have known Dave and worked with him on a number of his passions, and it was an honour to present him with the British Columbia Medal of Good Citizenship in recognition of and gratitude for his ongoing volunteer and philanthropic contributions to the community.
He led by example and his passing represents a huge loss to his family and the community he loved.”
